Cello Teaching Assistant, Longy School of Music
Hannah MacLeod began playing cello in her native Scotland around her fourth birthday, adding piano three years later. She continued her musical studies upon moving to her adopted hometown of Minneapolis in 2003. She spent a post-graduate year at Interlochen Arts Academy, having previously spent five summers at Interlochen Arts Camp. In May, Hannah graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York University, with a B.M. in cello performance and a minor in linguistics. While in New York, she discovered the joy of teaching at UpBeat NYC, an El Sistema inspired nucleo based in the South Bronx. Her passion for El Sistema has brought her to the Longy School of Music of Bard College, where she has been named a teaching fellow and Roman and Melanie Totenberg Scholar. At Longy, she is pursuing her M.M. in cello performance, studying under Nicholas Tzavaras.
