BSA students Fiona Yuan, William Parkes and Leo Wang were three of the four winners of the first annual Sistema Side by Side Concerto Competition. They will each perform as soloists with the Sistema Side by Side Symphony Orchestra on April 4th.
A large selection of Boston String Academy students performed the National Anthem at the Celtics game on January 18, 2020, with Longy’s Sistema Side by Side Orchestra. Bravo to all the wonderful young performers!
Our students wrapped up the 2019 year with a winter orchestra concert at Longy School of Music’s Pickman Hall. Over 120 young musicians captivated the audience playing music by Tchaikovsky, Warlock, and Holiday favorites. Our audience surprised all of us with their beautiful voices!
Boston String Academy sent the largest representation from any single El Sistema-inspired program in the US to participate at the 2019 YOLA National Festival organized by Los Angeles Philharmonic. They performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall and were conducted by maestro Gustavo Dudamel.
Twenty of our most advanced students joined El Sistema Portugal’s Orquestra Geraçao in Lisbon last summer 2019. Students shared a week long festival with fantastic Portuguese young musicians, performing at the prestigious Grande Auditorium at the Gulbenkian Foundation. An unforgettable experience for all!
